Salón de la Mujer opens its call for its 2023 edition, under the theme ‘Women in Action’

Until February 25 the Guayas Nucleus House of Culture will receive the works of the artists who wish to participate in the Women’s Salon 2023, which this year will take place under the motto: ‘Women in Action’, which seeks that “artists express in their works the actions and actions that dignify the role of women and their active participation in our society.”

This call is addressed to all Ecuadorian plastic artists, of legal age, resident or not in Ecuador, and foreigners with verifiable continuous stay of more than two years in the country.

The artists who wish to apply must send the physical work to the facilities of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana Núcleo del Guayas, within the established deadlines. A folder must be attached to the work, which must contain: artist resume (name and pseudonym, if any), Technical sheet of the work (title, measurements and technique), a support of the referential framework and a Printed photograph of the work. “No material will be received by email”emphasizes the institution at its bases.

Each author will participate with a work, with its complete constituent elements and its respective assembly, ready for exhibition. The Techniques to be used may be: oil, acrylic, mixed media and collage. The format should not exceed 1.50 cm x 1.50 cm. “The creations must be original, and will have museum durability”emphasize the bases.

The following will not be accepted: contestants who have participated in a contest, contest and/or Salon, works that are more than one year old, works that do not comply and/or deliver the relevant documentation at the time of application. And the artists who have obtained the first prize will not be able to participate either, in any of the last two painting contests (2021-2022).

“The admission and award jury will be made up of characters with a recognized career in the artistic and cultural field; who will solve any unforeseen event during the selection and awarding of the participating works”, it is read in the bases. The prizes and mentions will be decided with the works exhibited in the room.

The first prize will receive $3,000 and the delivery of a diploma; while honorable mentions will not have an economic endowment.

According to the schedule established by Milton R. Paredes, museum management coordinator, the jury’s decision will be on March 2; to finally celebrate the inauguration of the salon on March 8. Consult the complete bases in guayas.casadelacultura.gob.ec
