An illustrated album to save the art of Rosa Valverde

Euskaraz irakurri: Rosa Valverderen artea gordetzen duen album ilustratua

The Pamiela publishing house has published the book “Rosa Valverde eta kutxak. Traste arrunten barruan zuk zer ikusten duzu?” within the Bagara collection, which disseminates the work of women artists.

The book is the work of Maialen Lujanbio and Arrate Rodriguez, who have taken care of the text and illustrations respectively, and Lujanbio has specified that “it is not a biography or an informative work”, but “a free creation based on the work of Valverde”.

The book is “freely” inspired by Rosa Valverde’s box series, and follows two parallel threads “on the right and left pages.” A game is proposed with everyday objects, and the reader is asked to guess what they are hiding, according to the writer and bertsolari.

Arrate Rodriguez has explained that the work has been “very Rosa Valverde”: “She was a person with a very rich world, which we have transferred to the book”.

Rosa Valverde Lamsfus (San Sebastián, 1953 – Azkaine, 2015) worked painting, drawing and scenes inside boxes, and, according to the editorial, “she was an original artist, difficult to categorize, who created her own universe, colorful and alive.

The Bagara collection is directed by Haizea Barcenilla and Garazi Ansa, and they have already published, in a year of travel, “Esther Ferrer eta denbora” and “Mari Paz Jimenez eta pintura”.
