They chose a name for their daughter, but the family laughed at them. “Sounds like Orange”

Choosing for a child is not an easy task. Parents often don’t know what to choose until the last minute. When everything is finally settled, it happens that the name does not meet with the approval of the environment, and the closest ones sometimes even openly negate it. A reader of the portal who shared her experiences with the portal found out about it.

The family did not accept her child’s name. “Sister-in-law said the name sounded like orangeade”

Choosing a name can be stressful for parents because the decision will affect the rest of their lives. Inspiration can be found anywhere – on the Internet, a printed book of names or a family tree. Although for some the choice is simple and they decide on a name that they simply like, others take into account the opinion of grandparents or other family members. A reader of the eDziecko portal shared a story about her daughter’s name.

When I got pregnant, we started thinking about a baby name pretty quickly. When it turned out that I would give birth to a daughter, the choice was obvious. We always wanted to name the baby after my great-grandmother Helena. My husband’s family laughed at the idea. The sister-in-law said that the name sounded like soda, and when the little girl went to school, they would rechristen her.

The woman felt disgusted by her sister-in-law’s words. Her husband comforted her and asked her not to pay attention to it, which she finally managed to do. Finally, the couple decided on their own for the child’s name and opted for the ones they initially chose.

Unusual baby names. Parents are inspired by TV series

baby names change from time to time. Recently, it has been popular to choose based on those worn by the characters of your favorite TV series or movies. The publicity enjoyed by “The Witcher” or “Game of Thrones” meant that Arya, Yennefer, Cirilla and Daenerys visited Polish birthing centers in recent years.

It is also interesting to give names because of things that moved us, are important or have had a huge impact on our lives. Pandemic, Prosseco, Europa or Mrówka are just a few unusual proposals. The situation is no different when choosing boy names. Here you can distinguish Opieńek, Rajan, Dexter, Piołun or Dandelion.

It is worth remembering, however, that the head of the Registry Office has the right to refuse to give an unusual name. This applies to situations where, in his opinion, it is indecent, funny or, for example, does not allow to distinguish the sex of the child.
