COAC 2023: order of performance of the session on Tuesday, January 31, of the Carnival of Cádiz

Neither the Gran Falla Theater nor the Cádiz own they get tired of Carnival. In fact, such is the importance of the Cadiz Carnival that before it there is a not-so-short Official Contest of Carnival Groups (COAC), but it is that even after another Carnival also takes place, the boy, the little one, the ‘of the jartibles’ ‘, the one of those who never ‘jartan’ of Carnival. How can they get tired of humor? The COAC continues this Tuesday with the second preliminaries session of the week, in the absence of another four for Saturday to close this first qualifying phase, from which those chosen for the quarterfinals will come out.

COAC 2023: order of action for today, Tuesday, January 30

This Tuesday they are three chirigotas, three comparsas and a choir those who get on the stage of the Great Falla, to show their repertoires. Although the official jury of the COAC will rate them on site, the points that each group receives will not be known until the end of the phase. And not even there they all know each other: once the preliminary phase is over, the scores of the groups that do not go to the next phase will be known, while those that do only name will be known.

Once they reach the quarterfinals, each and every group they have 0 points again and they start from the same conditions, to continue convincing the jury (and the public) in the next phase. However, before reaching that moment there are still four more preliminary sessions. Between seven and eight groups participate in each session, with half an hour each performance, time to which are added the 10 or 15 minutes of assembly, disassembly and rest between each one. Here you can check all the dates and order of performance of the sessions that are left to finish the phase:

My soul and Those of the verdict, the favorite chirigotas

Although the official points of any group are not yet known, the alternative juries are already showing their cards, and although they are all different, the unofficial daily jurors of the newspapers ‘Bahía de Cádiz’, ‘Diario de Cádiz’ and ‘La Voz de Cádiz’ already point to some as favourites: for the former and the latter, the chirigota The my soul is the best of the COAC so far, while for the ‘Diario’ it remains in second position, only behind those of the verdict. It should be remembered that Los mi alma is the chirigota in which the presenter of laSexta José Yélamo participates.

This is how COAC scores work

As for comparsas, for example, they are the three jurors agreed: the troupe of the year is, for now (and at least with the repertoire presented in the first phase), La ciudad invisible. The comparsa of Antonio Martínez Ares, which in 2022 presented itself under the name of Los Sumisos, was the category winner in the latest edition of COAC.
