The Official Contest of Carnival Groups (COAC) of Cádiz is almost at the equator; this Saturday takes place seventh session of the preliminary phase, a day in which a total of eight will be uploaded to the stage of the Gran Teatro Falla groupings: a choir, four comparsas, two chirigotas and, finally, a quartet. It is more strange to see a quartet because they are much less numerous, not in number of members (which also) but in the number of COAC participants; in 2023, in fact, there are only four quartets.
Every day the theater hosts seven or eight groups, which have a half an hour each to demonstrate their talent. The preliminary sessions can be followed live, either in the theater or from home. However, theater tickets for all the sessions of this first qualifying phase sold out just a few hours after going on sale. Even so, Onda Cádiz Carnival broadcasts all sessions daily, at least those of the qualifying phase, quarterfinals and semifinals. This is the list of groups participating this Saturday:

the preliminary session starts at 20:30 and taking into account that each performance lasts a half hour or so, each day lasts between four and five hours, depending on the number of performances. Today, for example, that there are eight, only in the part of performances will be a total of four hours, to which must be added the 10-15 minute break between one and the other. And what happens when the preliminary phase ends? That the next one begins: the quarterfinals. The qualifier ends on February 4 and from there the names of the groups that pass to the next phase will be announced; that yes, they do it without dragging the points obtained until then, that is to say, all start in equal conditions in the rooms, with 0 points.
From this phase on, the score obtained each night is carried over: from February 6 to 11, the quarterfinal phase takes place; from February 13 to 15 the semifinal and the great final is celebrated, also in the Great Fallaon February 17.
