The American was chosen for the 95th edition of the Academy for “his love of movies, his experience in live television, and his expertise in connecting with global audiences”.

Kimmel is the fifth person to host the gala for the third time, as Steve Martin, Jerry Lewis, Conrad Nagel, and David Niven.
Many remember the time he hosted the 2017 awards, when he moderated the chaotic final moments in which La La Land for best film, when the winning film was Moon light.
