In 2022, he returned as the title character of the famous animation “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”. In the spin-off of the green ogre adventure series – – the ginger pet tries to regain his nine lives. Maneuvering on the edge has already escaped the cat eight times, so the specter of retirement and parting with eternal risk-taking hangs over him. The hero cannot agree to this, so he decides to find a mythical star that can grant one wish.

Reflection on the transience of life is something that connects Banderas with the character he had the opportunity to play recently. The actor suffered a heart attack in 2017.

Antonio Banderas appreciates his heart attack

In one of the interviews promoting the new animation, Banderas referred to the subject matter of the production. In an interview with Radio Times, he decided to make a confession that may surprise many people.

“Six years ago I had a heart attack. It was probably one of the best things that happened to me. It was like putting on glasses and seeing what is important in life,” explains the actor.

From that moment, Banderas began to look at his life, including his professional life, from a completely different perspective.

“Since then, I’ve only been looking for the pleasure of acting in roles. I don’t care about anything else,” adds the star.

Zorro in the movie went to the hospital after he felt chest pain during exercise. His life was saved by his partner – Nicole Kimpel.
