“We were surprised to discover that the result of the vote of the Romanian jury was not taken into account in the calculation of the final ranking,” says Romanian television. According to this entity, the organization of Eurovision altered their scores, as they had decided to give their highest score to Moldova and Moldova decided to give them to Ukraine.

However, as stated TVRthe person in charge of Romanian television appointed to send the votes “noticed the discrepancy” between the scores sent the day before and the notes that the EBU showed during the event.

Faced with this situation, TVR explained that it asked the Eurovision organization to specify “the specific reasons why they replaced the jury’s score in Romania with other scores calculated in a non-transparent manner.” To conclude, TVR has affirmed that, based on the answer given by the Eurovision organization, “it reserves the right to take action“.

The consequences of Romania’s claim

If Romania’s claim succeeds, the final Eurovision classification could change. As the journalist explained Bertha Herrero in a Twitter thread, the United Kingdom would have received points that did not correspond to it, while Spain would have lost some of them.

In case the EBU decide to review what happened, the position of Spain in the classification it could change for the better and grant a second place to Chanel. However, we will have to wait for the response of the festival organization and the possible actions it can take RTVE about.
