This Thursday, January 19, the prosecution released the news that has already gone around the world. Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed will face manslaughter charges and will be formally arraigned later this month.

The Hutchins family attorney, Brian J. Panish, told the specialized media that they thank the Santa Fe sheriff and the district attorney “for concluding their exhaustive investigation and determining that involuntary manslaughter charges with conscious disregard for human life are justified.” in the death of Halyna Hutchins.”

Panish added that his independent investigation also resulted in charges being brought in the death of the 42-year-old woman.

β€œIt is a relief to the family that, in New Mexico, no one is above the law. We support the charges, will fully cooperate with this trial, and fervently hope that the justice system will work to protect the public and hold accountable those who break the law,” he continued in the statement.

On the other hand, Luke Nikas, Baldwin’s lawyer, rejected the prosecution’s decision and stated that the actor “had no reason to believe that there was a real bullet inside the gun or anywhere on the recording set.”

Nikas added that the artist “trusted the professionals with whom he has worked, who assured him that the gun did not have real bullets” and in the end he assured that they will continue to fight “these charges and we will win.”

While, according to the prosecution, the evidence presented is sufficient to file criminal charges, since it considers that Hutchins’ death could have been prevented if the people responsible for filming had done their job.

Hutchins died on October 21, 2021 on the recording set of the movie “Rust” when Baldwin and Hutchins rehearsed a scene at the Bonanza Creek ranch in New Mexico with an old revolver. (AND)
