Don´t look up is one of the most anticipated films of the season, beyond the appeal of the plot because will reunite for the first time two icons of recent acting such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. Both were about to work together on Once upon a time in hollywood, but it’s on the tape Adam McKay where we can see them sharing the screen as two scientists who discover that a large comet is approaching the earth. While this, could be the premise of an intense action thriller, the path and tone that the trailer seems to lead totally leads to a tart comedy and critical of the political position in the face of imminent natural disasters.

The teaser leaked by Twitter it only lasts 27 seconds, but they are more than enough both to show the tone of the proposal and its absolutely star-studded cast: Timothée Chalamet, Chris Evans, Tyler Perry, Mark Rylance, Cate Blanchet, Ron Perlman, Rob Morgan, Ariana Grande, Melanie Lynksey y Michael Chiklis. Don´t look up is an exclusive Netflix production and in what little we have been able to see, without revealing anything important about the plot is that the character of DiCaprio breathes with difficulty in a bathroom before quarreling with the president of the United States , played by Meryl Streep. During that meeting, the son of the president and chief of staff, played by Jonah Hill, tells Dicaprio’s character that his breathing is stressing him out. A fun moment that represents a critique of how politicians act on minor things, in the face of such a serious security alarm for planet earth.
Adam McKay directs, writes and produces this story that was originally to be treated as an allegory on climate change. Nevertheless, since the global pandemic interrupted filming, the director gave it enough form to see how we relate today. “We can’t even talk to each other anymore. We can’t even agree. So it is about climate change, but at its root it is about what happens on the internet, what mobile phones have, what the modern world has done with the way we communicate “ Mckay assured. The film that will be released on Netflix does not yet have a release date, although your first official trailer should not be missing much.
