The Cuenca communicator Pepe Perez took advantage of the capabilities offered by artificial intelligence (AI) to create unique characters, inspired by the various provinces of Ecuador.

He comments that the idea arose from the work of another artist, who with this AI technique, made designs of the countries as if they were villains. “So, seeing that, I thought that I could do something similar and what better with the provinces of Ecuador to give it a flavor of ours”, details Perez.
His creations show intimidating characters that could well be part of a series or movies. But the impact is greater because show the various provinces that make up our countryan excellent artistic work that soon went viral on social networks.

The images of these Ecuadorian villains were created with AI midjourney.
Pérez comments that although this program is an image generator, It depends on the user the instructions that he enters to generate the same. You must provide a descriptive text of what you want to create and additional parameters, such as style, quality, size, if you want based on an artist, etc.

“The AI generates four image options and one there can choose which one to use, whether to make variations, or to make touch-ups. So, it depends a lot on the user’s work to generate an image”, comments the young man from Cuenca, a graduate of Organizational Communication and Public Relations, who currently works in an alaU educational platform.
This fan of series and movies comments that he decided on this type of character because “in general, villains have a deeper story than heroes”.
In addition, he considered exploring and exploiting the qualities of artificial intelligence, to create villains that are scary and develop the evil expressions on their faces.
Pérez did some tests with the AI using his own face, before developing the images of the villains, which took him around four hours to complete.
It indicates that he chose the most evil villains; In addition, since they are from the provinces of Ecuador, he had to find that the fund goes according to the area they represent.
“The one from Azuay cost me a lot, because I couldn’t find that balance in the background, that represents something from Azuay and the character that is a villain. It didn’t generate one that says: ‘this is bad’. So, I was there, recasting (the character) like eight times,” he comments.

Pérez’s work is available on social networks, where he has been congratulated by dozens of users. (AND)
