Jan Andrzej Paweł Kaczmarek is a Polish composer born in Konin. He worked on over 70 works, to which he composed music. We are talking here about feature films, documentaries, as well as Polish and American theatrical performances. In 2005, Kaczmarek received an Oscar for the best music for the film “The Dreamer” directed by Marc Forster. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award.

The artist is also known as a co-creator of a musical instrument based on a fidol construction. It’s about a 99-string non-waker, which he designed in 1983. In addition, Kaczmarek is a virtuoso playing with two strings on Fidola Fisher (a string instrument created in the 19th century), as well as the director and creator of the International Film and Music Festival “Transatlantyk”.
Unfortunately, the outstanding composer has been suffering from an incurable disease for some time. MSA is the so-called multiple system atrophy, a disease similar to Parkinson’s. Unfortunately, the disease is much more serious. Medicine still does not have effective methods of treating the ailments, and patients are struggling with an increasing degree of disability over time.
In the case of Kaczmarek, damage to the nerve endings caused lung problems. The artist’s daughter reported the difficult situation of her father online.

“It is a horror for our family to watch this amazing man fight such an uneven fight. All attempts to help dad have failed, now we are trying to provide him with the best possible conditions at home,” writes Anastazja Davis.
The woman set up a collection where fans of the artist can support him in a difficult situation.
“Dad is unable to move on his own and requires the help of his wife and two carers to perform basic activities such as getting out of bed or dressing. He also needs equipment such as a wheelchair. He cannot be left alone as he often passes out due to blood pressure fluctuations. – reports the composer’s daughter.
Due to his illness, the artist had to stop his professional work. His wife also sacrificed her career to care for her partner and their seven-year-old son. It is no wonder that the family faced a significant financial challenge that is difficult to cope with. Davis emphasizes that the immediate family supported her father as much as they could, but their resources are not inexhaustible.
Kaczmarek’s impressive filmography includes productions such as: “Total Eclipse”, “God’s Pieces”, “War and Peace”, “The Brothers Karamazov”, “My Friend Hachiko”, “Until the Grave” or “Magnesia”.
