100 years of Guayaquil art take over three cultural spaces in the city
The last workshop of ‘Photography for non-photographers’, of the EHOX Image School, presents tonight the exhibition named In the sea of time
The sample gathers 56 photographs, each student exposes 7 photographs. “The results are very diverse, they will find a job completely different from the other (…) most of the photos -basically all the photos- begin to have this more personal, more intimate feature, more of your relatives, of your house of your work, of your memories”says Aguirre.
The instructor says that the graphs were made by people who “do not have any kind of connection with the artistic field.” This is how the exhibition is made up of professionals in economics, medicine, psychiatry, business administration and more. “Currently everyone wants to do photography, and they don’t want to do it with the perspective of becoming a professional”argues the visual artist.
“We are not looking for a literal, rational, or intellectual interpretation, but to give an emotional interpretation,” adds Aguirre, explaining that for this reason the works derive from personal experiences and experiences.
The name of the exhibition responds a bit to the fact of embarking on something without knowing the concrete result, that is to say, it plays a bit with the fact of being surprised along the way. “I conclude within these works that we are all like castaways, that we are adrift”, He says.
He explains that in the process of learning, discovery and creation, his mission is not to put technique first, but rather that photography be a connection tool. “What you are going to say ends up being more important than the technique”holds.
“The students have had fun in this process, they have come to connect (…) they even worked with texts by Dostoevsky”indicates.
For the exhibition it promises an immersive experience. “Beyond the exhibition of photos, what we want is to transfer, with a more scenic experience”mentions Aguirre.
