is a cult animated film that debuted on the screens of Polish cinemas in 2001. However, before the viewers got to know the green ogre and his companions, a trailer of the production was released on VHS tapes. As it turned out, the voices we know from the cult film differ from those we hear in the trailer.
The undoubted success of “Shrek”. Famous actors spoke with the voices of iconic characters
Many factors contributed to the success of “Shrek” in Polish cinema. First of all, an interesting script and great animation were of great importance. The viewers’ hearts were also won by the translation of the production by Bartosz Wierzbięty. Shrek, Donkey or wouldn’t they be the same characters if it wasn’t for the dubbing of excellent Polish actors. The iconic characters were voiced by Zbigniew Zamachowski, Jerzy Stuhr and Agnieszka Kunikowska. Regarding the secondary characters, Adam Ferency (Farquaad) and Zbigniew Szuszyński (Mirror).
The dubbing in the trailer differs from the one known from the movie. Who voiced the characters in the preview?
Before “Shrek” debuted on the cinema screens, a VHS tape with a trailer of the animation appeared, but the dubbing proposed on it was completely different from the one we know from the final version of the film. In the announcement, Shrek was voiced by Jarosław Boberek, Donkey was voiced by Wojciech Paszkowski, and Fiona spoke with the voice of Izabela Dąbrowska. In the trailer, the character of Farquaad was dubbed by Paweł Iwanicki, and the other supporting characters were dubbed by Tomasz Bednarek and Jacek Kopczyński.
Although the quality of the recording is not the best (after all, it comes from a VHS tape), the aforementioned trailer is available on YouTube. Which dubbing do you think is better?
