Cotton Candy Plus, fashion and color proposal for plus size bodies

Are you one of the women who prefers to wear black or ‘loose’ clothes to hide your figure? Do you have on your cell phone screenshots of clothes that you would like to wear and do not dare? Or do you suffer, like many others, with the difficulty of finding outfits in your size? Being a person of plus size or plus size It is not one of the best realities in Ecuador. Although it is true that multiple options are appearing in the market for this segment, rarely are there national brands pending to really satisfy this consumer group.

The garments are in shades of pink, white, yellow, purple and small floral prints.

Based on her experience, Pilar Navarrete has developed the first collection of her brand Cotton Candy Plus, a line of clothing for plus-size women, which through basic garments fuses a fashion proposal with trends. The idea is to achieve looks that make you look comfortable, that adapt to your silhouette and that allow you to leave behind the ‘classic’ all black, a recurring emergency option for girls plus size.

Multiple options are appearing in the market for this segment, rarely are there national brands pending to really satisfy this consumer group.

“I always had the idea, Cotton Candy (my first brand) turned five, so I have it five years ago. Why was he born? because I felt the need to be able to look for clothes that fit me and that I like and there weren’t even places, I didn’t have a good proposal, I didn’t have someone to advise me, that you go to a place and that they tell me well because I found it when I went to places here, they were big dresses and jackets, which covered everything or only black clothes. This is what I really like about this collection, I don’t have anything in black,” says Navarrete, who was a television producer for a local channel.

Long and short dresses, shirts, smocks, jackets and shirts are the initial designs for Cotton Candy Plus.

Leaving behind, slowly, the time of only ‘showcaseing’ because there were no large size garments or feeling bad for asking for one more size (the correct one according to your body and not the one you impose on yourself to fit), Navarrete landed the conception of this project during the pandemic.

I started studying at a university on-line colorimetry, image consulting in plus sizes. In 2020, when the pandemic began, she was already registered and was also selling products from skincare online, homemade masks to protect the skin of the face that began to be mistreated by the use of the mask. For this reason, I put my first degree on pause and entered to study cosmiatry and cosmetology. I have finished my cosmetology degree and am now resuming my plus size design training,” she says.

Pilar Navarrete has developed the first collection of her Cotton Candy Plus brand.

María is the name of the collection that owes its name to the Virgin Mary, to whom Navarrete is devoted, and to her cousins. “All my cousins are called Maria, just like me, and each of the clothes has a characteristic of their personalities,” she says.

“I don’t know why they always have to tell us to wear black in plus sizes, that this color hides you when it’s not like that and you can highlight other attributes, it’s okay if you don’t want to show a part of your body, but we shouldn’t cover ourselves for complete as if we were hiding ”, emphasizes Navarrete.

Long and short dresses, shirts, blouses, jackets and shirts are the initial designs for Cotton Candy Plus, which in this first installment has favored shades of pink, white, yellow, purple and small floral prints. The garments are available from size L to XXXL (size 22).

“The idea is to achieve looks that make you look comfortable, that adapt to your silhouette and that at the same time allow you to leave behind the ‘classic’ all black.”

“All the colors are in pastels, flowers in small sizes that favor the plus size, in details. There is no longer a defined trend in a style. Nothing is said, if you like something you can wear it, it all depends on how you combine your outfits, ”she emphasizes.

According to Navarrete, he plans to present high-waisted jeans in the coming months that favor plus-size silhouettes and do not mark the lower abdomen. “I will have options leggings For Christmas, I plan to also have options for girdles, deodorants to prevent chafing in the crotch,” she says.

As of this month, the public service begins in its physical store that is located in Kennedy norte, Víctor Hugo Sicouret and Miguel H. Alcívar (two blocks behind the Hilton Colón). Appointment required. (YO)
