The Golden Raspberries will be awarded the day before the Oscars ceremony, i.e. March 11, 2023. These are anti-film awards that have been awarded since 1981. The originator of the initiative was the film critic John JB Wilson. The Golden Raspberry statuette is made of plastic painted gold and is worth $4.97, according to the organizers.

Golden Raspberry 2023: the “great return” of Polish cinema to Hollywood

This year, again, Polish productions were noticed by the creators of the plebiscite. Two years ago, for the first time, a Polish film won the Golden Raspberry Award for the worst screenplay. It’s about “365 days” directed by Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes, based on the erotic novel by Blanka Lipińska.

Now the same director duo has a chance for the Golden Raspberry statuette again, because the continuations of their work have been nominated. “365 Days: This Day” and “The Next 365 Days” have a chance to win in two categories: worst remake, sequel or rip-off and worst movie couple.

However, this is not a dizzying result for Polish films compared to 2021. Two years ago, “365 Days” received as many as six nominations, which made the production the leader at the time. This year’s edition is dominated by Andrew Dominick’s “Blonde”, which received as many as eight nominations for anti-awards. These categories include “Worst Picture”, “Worst Supporting Actor” (Xavier Samuel, Evan Williams) and “Worst Screenplay” (Andrew Dominik).

Seven chances for Golden Raspberries has the comedy “Nice Regrets”, directed by the musician Machine Gun Kelly. He, in turn, was the most generously showered with individual nominations, of which he won as many as four. The new adaptation of Pinocchio, which is available on the Disney+ streaming service, won six nominations. He played in it Tom Hanks, who thanks to the role of Gepetto in this production, received his first Golden Raspberry nominations in history. And he has a total of three – two for his participation in “Elvis” and one for his role in “Pinocchio”.
