Victorious at the 71st Italian Song Festival and the 65th Eurovision Song Contest, the Italians from Måneskin are promoting their latest, third studio album entitled “Rush!”. One of the promotional actions was an unusual form of the oath taken by the band members. The coverage of the event was made available by Spotify on YouTube.

Måneskin musicians are known for their activities for sexual minorities, including a bold kiss between the singer and the guitarist during a concert in Poland in 2021. The activism is supported by the declaration of, among others, the group’s bass player, Victoria DeAngelis, who openly admits that she is bisexual. Support for LGBT+ people was also reflected in the campaign promoting the band’s new album – the artists got married metaphorically. Drummer Ethan Torccio stepped into the role of the bride, wearing a wedding dress, while the role of the groom was played by both singer Damiano David and guitarist Thomas Raggio, who kissed again after the vows.
Måneskin fans believe that the wedding was particularly symbolic in response to allegations from people fearing that its leader, Damiano, would leave the group after achieving commercial success. With the help of a fictitious wedding, the musicians had to swear that band activity was more important than starting a solo career, and they also confirmed the strength of their creative bond. The composition of Måneskin has remained unchanged for years – the four Italians have been working together since their first street performances or participation in “X Factor”.
Celebrities attended the ceremony
Invited to a fictitious wedding were m.in. representatives of the world of fashion, music and sport. Among the guests were Machine Gun Kelly, director Baz Luhrmann, Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino and Argentinian footballer Paulo Dybala. Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele stepped in as the master of ceremonies. The ceremony took place in Rome in the spaces of Palazzo Brancaccio. The members of the group pledged “eternal loyalty”.

Måneskin’s latest album, “Rush!”, includes the singles known to fans, including “Mammamia”, “Supermodel” and “Gossip”, in which the guitarist of Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morello, played a guest solo. The lyrics were written mostly in English, but the musicians also included Italian compositions.
We feel that the Italian aspect of music is still an essential part of us, our culture and our origin. We didn’t want Italian music to pop up every so often on the playlist. We wanted to create a rock representing the foundation around which everything is built.
