What to do when the door starts to creak? First, locate the source of the problem

As soon as you hear a characteristic, annoying sound, immediately check which of the hinges generates it. Finding the source of the problem is child’s play. Approach each of the hinges one by one and move the door. This way you will know which of the joints needs to be repaired. In some cases, the problem can be with any component.

When you locate the source of the creaking, start disassembly. Each joint consists of two elements – a hinge and a pin. The last one is a round piece of metal. Pull it out with your fingers or pliers. Often, metal parts can be rusted, making them difficult to remove. If you have a problem with this, grab a screwdriver and loosen the clamp holding the pin.

How to fix a creaking door? You’ll need shaving foam

After removing the pin, thoroughly clean it of old grease and dirt. Do the same with the hinge plates. After cleaning the metal parts, apply a thin layer of shaving foam to them. The product you usually use in , should remove the problem in no time. Reinstall the pin in the correct place, then check that the squeaking is gone. If you still hear them, repeat the process on each hinge.
