Raúl Molina publishes ‘Matria’, the last single from what will be his debut album

Few independent Ecuadorian musicians and artists have stood out as much in the academic arena as the local drummer has. Raul Molina (@raulmolina), who has gone through some of the best music schools in the world, such as Berklee College of Music, in Boston (USA), being a virtuoso as far as the execution of his instrument is concerned; however, Raúl has mentioned on different occasions that not only theory and study are the most important when creating and expressing art.

Since 2019, he has been releasing singles from what will be his first solo album until finally reaching the one that will end the wait. Posted last Thursday, motherland has arrived with an incomparable rhythm that serves to explain to general listeners what the groove in the music; that remarkable feeling at the moment of playing an instrument and the fluidity with which it is expressed. Seven and a half minutes fly by without becoming tedious in this true sonic exploration.

It is worth noting the excellent ensemble of international musicians that allow the formation of this theme: in the voices, Taraneh Mousavi and Alexandria DeWalt, Camila Cortina (piano), Joshua Achiron (guitar), Paul Pandit (double bass), Fall Raye (tenor saxophone) and, of course, Raúl Molina, composer and in charge of drums and percussion.

The mix was done by Mac Ritchey, being this excellent, since it allows to appreciate each instrumental line without inconveniences. Impeccable sound that leaves nothing but the desire to listen to the complete album, which has at least jazz experimental as the main flag.

Molina made public the dedication of the song to Taraneh Mousavi and his country, Iran, on his social networks, for all the social and cultural conflicts in which they are involved every day.

When it comes to creating and listening to music, there is no room for prejudice, nor are we separated by nationalities or cultures. Music will always be in charge of uniting everyone who listens to it. (EITHER)
