With the initiative to promote tourism and sports, in addition to promoting the country’s economic recovery, Grupo Mavesa took the opportunity to show the potential of the ZX Grand Lion truck “with a new record” in the highest active volcano in Ecuador, in an event called Chimborazo Challenge.
This feat, as described by Alejandro Santillán, commercial manager of the ZX brand of Grupo Mavesa, and Alejandro Montalvo, Marketing manager of the corporation, consisted of going from 55 masl (meters above sea level) to 4,855 masl, which is completed in a time of 1 h 39 min 12 ss.
The journey started from the city of Montalvo, located in the province of Los Ríos at 55 meters above sea level, until it reached the Hermanos Carrel high mountain refuge of the Chimborazo National Park, located at an elevation of 4,855 meters above sea level.
The distance between Montalvo and the Ecuadorian massif, which is approximately 116 kilometers, is covered in about 2 hours and 32 minutes, however, the ZX Grand Lion reduced that time by almost an hour on second-order roads and without mishaps.

ZX Grand Lion Features
The new ZX Grand Lion unites heavy work and the everyday, so it is prepared to be agile in urban traffic, productive in high load demands and pleasant in recreational activities.
To achieve the feat of reaching 4,855 meters above sea level, the Mavesa car relied on a 2,300 cubic centimeter turbo engine, with 380 Nm (Newton meters of torque), associated with a manual gearbox, which are other of the many qualities with which it counts pick up.
