The New Mexico State Prosecutor’s Office (United States) presented this Thursday two charges of involuntary manslaughter against the actor Alec Baldwin for the death of the cinematographer Halyna Hutchinswho died of a shot during the filming of the movie ‘Rust’ in October 2021.
Involuntary manslaughter charges were also filed against the person in charge of security protocol during recording, Hannah Gutierrez Reedwhile assistant director David Hallstasked with delivering the weapon to Baldwin, accepted a misdemeanor charge in an agreement with the prosecution itself.
Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez Reed faces up to 18 months in jail and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
Attorney for the First Judicial District of New Mexico, Mary Carmack Altwieshas announced the charges this Thursday after months of speculation about the involvement in the event by Baldwin, who triggered a prop gun containing live ammunitionwhen this type of bullets are prohibited on filming.
