World War II map sparks frantic search for Nazi treasure in the Netherlands

A treasure map with its red X and everything. A detailed map where Nazi soldiers supposedly hid a treasure trove of jewels and money shortly before finishing WWII. The document has just been declassified by the National Archives of the Netherlands and has awakened hundreds of treasure hunters around the world.

In the video you can see how a man looks for a treasure hidden by the Nazis during world war II. It is just one of many that follow the directions on this map. “I think it’s hiding here. I’ve seen a lot of people looking for it,” he confesses.

The treasure could be buried in Ommeren, a small Dutch town 39 kilometers from the German border. The map is 80 years old and supposedly leads to loot worth millions of euros.

Four boxes full of gold, jewels, diamonds and even music boxes buried 80 centimeters deep at the foot of a cottonwood tree that would no longer exist.

Archive experts believe that the treasure comes from a bank in the city of Arnhem, destroyed by an air raid in 1944. Furthermore, it is believed that it was one of the German soldiers in the spring of 1945 who made the map a few months before the that he Allied side liberated the city.

To look for it, and despite these images, it is no use of metal detectors for security, since old bombs or land mines from the war not located until now could appear.

But the search among the most fans does not seem to end. At least until they find the hidden treasure.
