Five actresses prepare for their rehearsal in an old building in downtown Guayaquil. One sings to warm up her vocal chords; another puts the props in order; the other three get into her position as they get into character. They are all in the process of going on stage; in process, like pending things or simply like life itself. This phrase, which could give rise to some other philosophical thoughts, is the one that gives its name to the new proposal directed by the actor and dancer Omar Aguirre: In process, whose premiere is this Thursday.

Fiartes-G will inaugurate its 2022 edition with a program that pays homage to ‘Teatro El Juglar’, in its 45 years

Already on stage, a woman shakes herself from the floor; Little by little, her movements prompt her to get up, even though a blindfold impedes her intention. Suddenly, two women approach her and to the sound of a melodious voice she manages to get up to exorcise together her stories marked by pain, loss, mistreatment, hopelessness, the unsaid.

The actress Denise Argudo defines all this as an “accumulation of situations, sensations, feelings.” He is also the personification of the anger or indignation that someone can feel when wanting to be heard, or wanting to get out what has been silent for a long time.

To Alfonsina Punin, those bandages are a metaphor for the lies that people often grow up with. “It is to see how these limitations complicate our lives, they hurt us, and we have to see how to try to get out of there.”, he expresses.

Aguirre, who also acts in the play, comments that the proposal speaks of the power that violates the most vulnerable. “The work goes through different nuances; It is not constructed Aristotelically…”, He says. The actresses play with scarves that may well represent “that embrace” and shelter, or they may allude to that blindness or gag.

The proposal brings together dance, theater, music and texts; one of them is a fragment of change feetof Maria Lourdes Falconi Puig. He describes it as a collective work, since it was born from his initiative but it is built on the ideas, contributions and movements of the cast. Its duration on stage is approximately 45 minutes.

Some of the texts that make up the work emerge from different realities. “This work has a lot of truth from everyone; Y the relationship of the feminine with this city, which is ours, has basically been the axis or trigger of everything that has been created (…). I am questioning my own space, my own city, my own people, my own history”, expresses Pamela Velasteguione of the cast artists.

The montage is made up of paintings that weave a different story into each one; For example, in the first scene, Cecilia Chancay He talks about freeing himself from everything that can block a person; in another scene she personifies a girl who plays with big shoes; and in a third frame she is a sympathetic aunt.

In process premieres this Thursday, December 1, in Dance Body Studio, located in Imbabura and Panama. The rest of the functions will be on Friday the 2nd, Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of December. Admission is $7 for the general public and $5 for students, seniors, and people with disabilities. (YO)
