The independent music scene in Ecuador has grown in recent years thanks to the public, of course; however, this has also occurred as a result of the work of cult artists such as Hector NapolitanoHugo Idrovo and the popular neighborhood troubadour Miguel ‘Segovita’ Segovia (@segovitam), who for decades has carried the flag of the so-called tropical funk.
On this occasion, Segovita presented an acoustic session last Sunday from her garden, in which she performed the theme just like a dogcounting only on the company of his eternal companion, his nylon string guitar.
The excellent film is produced by David López (@davelopz) and sound by Jaime Carrillo (@jacarrillog) and José Segarra, who belong to the record label Grabador (@grabadorec).
The excellent quality video shows us a Segovita singing and playing his guitar with his characteristic feeling, while walking through his neighborhood and garden, then you can see a puppy that steals all eyes and helps to draw the analogy that baptizes this song. The color of the material makes one quickly empathize with the feeling that it seeks to convey.
As for the sound, less is more. Minimalism provides security and constancy to the subject, having a little atmosphere, without letting it be contaminated with noise. All that can be heard is the iconic voice of Miguel Segovia mentioning that he is eating only mortadella and a piece of bread.
The essence of Guayaquil music lies in artists like Segovita, who regardless of whether or not they have a large number of followers continue to create and produce their art; art that does not decay, that has many steps ahead and that simply takes moments to rest and then come back with new material in which there may be concerts, singles, albums, etc.
Miguel Segovia feels lonely like a dog, but behind him he has a small but loyal fan base.
