Ileana Espinel Cedeño Poetry Festival announces the winner of its 2021 contest

The pageant also awarded honorable mentions to other outstanding participants.

La lojana Thalia Andrea Rojas Vasquez turned out to be the winner of the Unique Prize of the contest XIV National Poetry Festival Ileana Espinel Cedeño 2021, for his set of poems titled as Call me Ismael.

According to the jury, Almond White (pseudonym with which she entered the contest), was chosen as the winner “For his great imagination, for his intertextuality and for his excessive and successful humor”.

“He has created a very personal world that engages in dialogues with various latitudes and cultures around the world. A set of poems that is in tune with the new poetry that is written in our continent ”, added the jury in the verdict.

The contest awarded honorable mentions to other participants who stood out. The First Honorable Mention it was for the collection of poems The fair of temptations, from Victoria Vaccaro Garcia (Margarita Porete), from Guayaquil, “for his powerful poetic prose of great depth and strength.”

The Second Honorable Mention it was for writing The flower chisels its own mirror, from Sandy Melissa Vallejo Sánchez (pseudonym: Amy), From Guayaquil. The work was rated by the jury as a collection of solid, well-crafted images of great lyricism.

Finally the Third Honorable Mention was awarded to the poem Pandemic my love from Sara Cornelia Montaño Escobarby Loja. This third mention was given by his verses of great invoice.

The festival is organized by the House of Ecuadorian Culture Núcleo del Guayas yla Cultural Corporation El Quirófano. (I)
