Hilda Saraguayo and Mercedes Pacheco in dispute for a ‘casting’; the actresses star in the play ‘Friends and rivals’

Each one has more than 20 years of career. On television they have coincided in several productions, but this is the first time they have shared a stage in the theater. the actresses Hilda Saraguayo Y mary mercedes pacheco are the protagonists of Friends and rivalsproduction that premiered this friday july 22on the experimental room of the Art Center Theater.

Friends and rivals is a staging that will confront -in fiction- the artists to get the role for which they attend a casting and in which they will also demonstrate their ability and chameleonic dexterity to interpret different characters from well-known Ecuadorian television series.

“The play is a journey through the best series that Ecuadorian television has ever had, they are two actresses who go to an audition and in that meeting, while they talk, they remember the programs they have seen and their experiences inside and outside the screen and how everything would be if they had assumed the roles of these programs”, explains Saraguayo about the work directed by Jorge Toledo.

Rehearsals began three weeks ago for the play that will also be on stage on Saturday, July 23. (in both functions at 20:30).

“Putting soul, life and heart into it and capturing the essence of these characters has been difficult for us because we try to bring the characters of other actors to the scene without falling into mockery, without vulgarity, without chatter. It is not an imitation, we want something nice to remain with which the public remembers them too. These are two friends who are rivals just for work,” adds Pacheco.

In Friends and rivals they also address first love, friendships, music and the difference in conquests and sentimental relationships.

Unlike their characters, Pacheco and Saraguayo agree that they have never had an experience like the one they present in the play. “With Mercedes we have been on different television programs and we have not been in fights for a casting, Personally, as an actress I never go to a casting in a fight Sometimes it happens that in the auditions you go and they give you a different character than the one you initially went for, as well as when you go with all your energy and they don’t choose you ”, she relates.

Pacheco, for her part, points out that each of the roles she has taken on in productions have come to her in a “divine” way. “Me, by chance or godliness, someone summoned me to do a casting because they knew that I spoke like montuvia and that’s where my career began with Pure toquilla straw, Our enclosure and then in ecuavisa with The yellow combo mentions.
