Even though this story happened years ago, it still makes your hair stand on end. Aneta Sz. she came from the village of Pieńki. Wanting to change her life, she moved to Augustów. She was modest and shy. On a daily basis, she worked as a cleaner in one of the offices. She dreamed of falling in love. On the Internet, she met a boy with whom she arranged to meet in one of the bars. However, she never made it there, because two brothers accosted her on the way to the meeting. They took her by the arm, took off her glasses and led her to the Netta River.
The brothers brutally raped and beat 29-year-old Aneta Sz.
The men first beat Aneta severely and then brutally. They found an ATM card in her purse. They wanted the woman to give them a PIN number, but she did not want to do it. – “When the victim lost consciousness as a result of her bodily injuries, they threw her into the Netta River, where she died as a result of drowning” – says Marcin Walczuk, judge of the District Court in Suwałki.
I handle most of the homicide cases in this department. Probably only once in my career have I encountered such a cruel crime. You could say she had injuries from head to toe, front, back, side. Not to mention skull fractures.

The killer has returned to the crime scene
The elder of the brothers – Tomasz, a week before the girl was tortured, became a happy husband, and earlier a father. Soon after committing the crime, he returned to work in England. The next day, the younger Paweł returned to the river with his friend. Apparently, he accidentally discovered the girl’s corpse, and then a friend notified the police.
When I read the files, I somehow intuitively wanted to find out who it was. I marked with interest who the police questioned there. I also told the policemen: do not be surprised if you find the perpetrator, he will be waiting for you right away. And so it was.

Unfortunately, the rain that fell at that time erased most of the traces and it seemed that the perpetrators of this gruesome act would never be brought to justice. Unfortunately, the camera at the bar that might have recorded them also broke down. The police, however, remembered a strange bystander who discovered the corpse. Interrogated again, he remembered that he came to the river with his friend – Paweł. The latter confessed that he had killed Aneta together with his brother.
Tomasz S. and Paweł S. were sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder. In court, they explained that they had murdered Aneta because she was ugly.
