Superman is a “big priority” for the new DC Universe, says James Gunn

A few days ago, rumors exploded that the new direction of the DC Cinematic Universe, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, it would cancel several titles that were expected for the next few years, and it would also give way to a new selection of actors for its superheroes.

Among the projects that are in jeopardy are a third of Wonder Woman. The director Patty Jenkins is no longer involved with the projectwithdrew when asked to make changes to the script he had written.

Knowing this, fans and various American media expressed their concern about the future of the films of Black Adam, Batman Y Supermanespecially for the actor who gives life to the Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, who ended his participation in the series The Witcherin theory to retake the red cape.

So James Gunn took to Twitter to assure fans that much of this information was not correct. But he did not specify which of the data he was referring to. This Monday he returned to clarify that Superman is one of his highest priorities.

“Hey James please tell us if we’re going to see Superman,” wrote one fan. “We’ve been deprived of the greatest comic book character on the big screen for centuries.”

“Yes, of course,” Gunn replied. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest.”

Asked by someone else to respond to the rumor that he doesn’t like Henry Cavill, Gunn responded. “Insurance. False”.

These have been days of uncertainty for the DC Universe. Cavill made an appearance in the post-credits scene of Black Adam, to the delight of his followers, and he even formally announced in a video on his social networks that the wait was over, and that he would be the hero of always. He even talked about looking for writers for a sequel to man of steel.

In an interview with Variety last october Cavill expressed how much Superman means to him, so much so that after five years, he still has hope. “It’s amazing to be here talking about him again. There is a bright future for the character. I’m excited to tell a story with a jubilant Superman.”

Sympathies and hopes apart, It remains to be seen if DC’s vision for Superman continues to have Cavill’s face.

“Peter and I decided to lead DC Studios knowing that we were coming into a fragmented environment, both in storylines and audiences, and that there would be an inevitable period of transition as we moved to tell a cohesive line between film, TV, animation. and video games”, Gunn tweeted on December 8, amid speculation about a complete turnaround for this cinematographic universe.

We know we’re not going to make everyone happy every step of the way, but we can promise that everything we do is in service of the DC story and characters that we know you treasure. and that we have treasured all our lives.” More answers? “I’m sorry, we’ll have to wait. We are giving it the attention it deserves and we ourselves have a lot of questions to ask and answer.” (AND)
