Euskaraz irakurri: Hertzainak taldeak agur esango die betiko agertokiei gaur gauean, Gasteizen
The mythical Basque radical rock band Hertzainak says goodbye to the stages tonight in Vitoria-Gasteiz, with a concert in an air-conditioned tent in Mendizabala with capacity for about 20,000 peopleunder the title “Azkena gure alde!”. Tickets went on sale on November 30 on the band’s website, and sold out this monday.
In this last appointment with the public, Hertzainak will not be alone, since two hours before his concert, which will start at 10:00 p.m., up to 15 guest artists of different styles and generations will perform; among others, Ruper Ordorika, Mikel Urdangarin Y double.
In any case, the musical and festive atmosphere in the capital of Álava will begin much earlier, since from 1:00 p.m. various performances in the Plaza del Matxete and in the historic center of the city.
A large influx of public is expected during the day and at the concert itself. In fact, the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has arranged special bus services to prevent attendees from using the private vehicle to travel to Mendizabala.
Specifically, Tuvisa will offer a service similar to that provided at the city’s major musical events such as the Azkena Rock Festival, which is held at this same location.
Mendizabala thus becomes the farewell scene for Hertzainak, who will play for the last time in the same city where they were born in the 80s. The Vitoria-Gasteiz appointment puts the finishing touch to a farewell tour that included two concerts at the BEC in Barakaldo in mid December.
The origin of this group dates back to 1978, the year in which the skeleton of what was to be Hertzainak began to form. Their first live performance was on New Year’s Eve 1981 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, and their last concert was on October 30, 1993 in Izarra.
Since then, the members of Hertzainak have made specific interventions on occasions such as the tribute to Tito Aldama (2012) or the concerts they staged in 2019. Tonight’s concert in front of 20,000 people will be their final farewell to the stage.
