The gastronomic square has also just presented a mobile app and a proposal to bring several of its products to supermarkets in the city.
On its third anniversary of operation, Mercado del Río wants to celebrate in style the pleasure of savoring the typical seasoning from its 27 stores with its loyal guests and the chefs who have accompanied them since its opening in 2018.
From Thursday, November 4, the ‘The best hole’ contest was activated, which will reward, as its name indicates, the best hole in this gastronomic square and the best restaurant of influence, as well as its best preparations.
To this end, each local has selected three special dishes from its menu to captivate customers, who after the purchase will receive a ballot to favor their favorite dining room and menu. In this process, in turn, visitors enter food order raffles.
The culinary competition will be open until November 19 and the final selection will be in charge of a jury led by the international chef Federico Trujillo, who stressed in the presentation of this contest that he seeks to evaluate “the techniques, the flavors and above all the appetite of the dishes, that is to say, their presentation ”. The winners will receive a trip to one of the most important gastronomic congresses and fairs in the world, such as Mistura, the Latin American gastronomy festival based in Peru.
During the event, Nicolás Romero, director of Mercado del Río, announced more news offered by this traditional coastal food place for the great celebration of its three years of life. In the first place, taking advantage of the popularity of mobile applications for food delivery at home, Mercado is not far behind and does so with a proposal that brings together all the dishes on this site in a single application available from this moment on Android and the system operating iOs, Apple. All this so that families, in a single order, can enjoy at home the dishes of several restaurants at the same time, without having to do it locally, as is customary in existing apps. “They can choose any of the options and it is managed in a single delivery and a single payment. This does not exist in the market, it is the first in Ecuador to do so ”, explained the executive very happy and proud.

Romero also announced that by 2022 Mercado wants to finalize the project of bringing the most innovative products from the food court to the hangers of supermarkets and thus transfer the experience of this square to more homes in the city. It will start with the artisanal chorizos from La Balandra, which is producing these sausages based on seafood, such as crab, shrimp and octopus.
Mercado del Río opened its doors on October 26, 2018 on the Malecón Simón Bolívar, next to the Guayas River. According to its mentalizers, this location is a tribute to what the boardwalk means for the city, especially because historically it has been a door to the world through which our city supplied and provided food from and to other parts of the country. .
