Caring for and preserving planet Earth begins with small decisions, including what clothes to buy. What should you look for if you want to make a nature-friendly choice? A quick look at the label might give you the data you need for your final judgment.
Ana María Rossi, Design Manager at Almacenes De Prati, points towards two directions in the development of sustainable fashion: first, that the garment guarantees durability, thanks to its high quality raw material; and later, monitor the production process under which that garment was made.
Based on these principles, the department store continues to build its Change by De Prati brandwith which they propose eco-friendly options to their customers, without losing sight of the trends most sought after by them.
“We have a whole development of organic cotton garments, grown in a 100% natural way, without pesticides that harm the environment, unlike normal cotton”, explains Rossi. Garments made from this material include T-shirts, knitwear, joggers and sweatshirts & hoodies.
Its eco-friendly offer is extended to jeanweardenim pants for which, in addition to their raw material, and thanks to the careful choice of suppliers, water and energy saving processes are incorporated into its production. “And finally, We have other sustainable materials, such as recycled polyester in blouses, shirts, dresses and jumpsuits. And, on the side of digital printing, we have men’s shirts what were they produced in the quantity necessary and required to avoid waste of material”, adds the designer.

the garments of Change by De Prati are part of its collections, thus guaranteeing that their designs also absorb international proposals. “That is, if we launch, for example, the crazy pants (jeans with different prints), the client will find eco-friendly pants within that trend. So it’s not just about limiting yourself to basic items.” Also, they stay within the same price range.

Although the departmental brand recognizes that there is still a lot of work ahead towards a true shift towards sustainable fashionAna María specifies that her team is happy with the initial results of having dared to take the first steps in that direction. His long-term goal is for more and more customers to also choose in favor of the planet.
“We go hand in hand with certain ideologies that are also occurring in international brands, which are much larger. It is not such an easy direction to take because, oddly enough, it is difficult to find those materials; and it happened to us when we began to dream of this change, but you have to start somewhere. Although it has started as a small project, we have decided to continue building it little by little.”, ends.
