Ruth Cruz’s ‘Fourth Dimension’ exhibition runs until November 19 in Puerto Santa Ana

After its successful debut at the beginning of October, the show Fourth dimension of the artist stay Ruth Cruz extends until mid-November his stay in Nasal Gallery (Puerto Santa Ana).

In his exhibition, Ruth appeals to materials and devices that transfer energy, produce light, sound or take advantage of circuits where images are superimposed and transformed by certain operations or timed. Thus, creating paradoxical combinations or unusual arrangements gives an enigmatic twist to the experience.

“Many of his works are mediators of polysensory stimuli and build bridges between different planes, they are evasive and produce strangeness. We perceive that behind it there is some anecdote, some event or longing, but it is not necessary to tell them. They resist the speech. They belong to the field of what we call a hunch or perhaps intuition”, says the curator Lupe Álvarez.

The exhibition opened at the beginning of October in Puerto Santa Ana, Edificio Santana Lofts, local 1.

Cruz, 36, began his art studies in 2011 at the Technological Institute of Arts of Ecuador and since 2016 it is part of the affiliation to the University of the Arts. In 2019 she graduated as a Plastic Artist. She is also part of the Non-Collective Nhormiga.

In the show, Álvarez continues, memories also appear. “Imagination provides erratic memory with a singular power of suggestion. The most intimate folds of memory can be shared through active appropriations by those who receive them. Encourage listening and create conditions for participation, either due to the vagueness of what is stated or by creating conditions for direct interventionallow us to push the rusty doors of our perception”.
