Laurence O’Fuarain starred in The Witcher: Bloodline. The actor talks about how he met Michelle Yeoh

The production tells a story set in the world of elves, which happened 1200 years before the action presented in the series “The Witcher”. Thanks to it, we will learn more about the origin and fate of the first Witcher and about the events that led to the “Conjunction of the Spheres”, when the worlds of monsters, humans and elves merged.

Sophia Brown and Laurence O’Fuarain joined the cast of The Witcher Universe as Éile and Fjall. They are warriors separated from hostile clans. Michelle Yeoh aka Scían played the last swordsmith of her line, Scían.

“The Witcher: Bloodline” will present the story of seven warriors, which was not described in Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. The series was overseen by showrunner and writer Declan de Barra, who also worked on the original The Witcher.

Michel Yeoh turned out to be different than expected

Some time before the premiere, a press conference was organized at a round table, attended by journalists and the creators and actors of the series. According to the portal, Laurence O’Fuarain said that he was very nervous working alongside Michel Yeoh, whom he considers a legend. They both play elves, and their characters used to be enemies to each other.

The star revealed how the actress shortened the distance between them on the first day on the set. Turns out she just made a joke about his ears when she first saw him:

It was a lot of stress before meeting her because I didn’t know how she would behave. And she is such a legend. One time she just looked at my ears – and we both play elves – and said, “Okay, I can see why they cast you” and walked away

To which O’Fuarain replied to her: “Right, Michelle Yeoh. I like it.” The actor also confessed that this prank helped Yeoh break the ice on her first day, making him feel less stressed about working alongside her.

The showrunner of the series, Declan de Barra, also commented on the situation. He told media at the roundtable press conference that he was surprised by Yeoh’s casual behavior on set: “I thought she was a very reserved person, and I was a huge fan of her, which made me feel a bit nervous when she appeared on set. A she’s the biggest prankster in the world and she’s always in a good mood and likes to make things different. It was a great surprise for me.”
