Who is Charles Cullen: the nurse who inspired Netflix’s Angel of Death
In December 2003, a nurse named Charles Cullen confessed to the New Jersey police that he had killed 40 people in his 16 years of service. The Netflix movie The Angel of Death tells the story of him.
Currently Charles Cullen is incarcerated in the New Jersey State Prison, in Trenton, and the crimes were committed by inducing drug overdoses to patients, until they died.
Some investigators of the case estimate that the nurse, a native of West Orange, killed more than 300 people, if true this would make him the serial killer with the most victims in the history of the United States.

After an abusive childhood and the death of his parents, Cullen dropped out of high school in 1978 and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he was part of the crew of the USS Woodrow Wilson submarine.
However, in 1984 she was medically discharged from the Navy and enrolled in the Mountainside School of Nursing in Montclair, New Jersey, graduating in 1986.

Cullen was arrested December 12, 2003 after complaints from patients, colleagues and relatives of victims at Somerset hospital. In his confessions to police, Cullen said that he killed these people to end their suffering and prevent them from being “dehumanized” by hospital staff.
However, some victims did not suffer from chronic illnesses, but instead showed signs of improvement before being killed by the medic.
