The trial brought by Mariusz Jop against Kuba Grabowski, or Quebonafide, is an unusual dispute between people from two different worlds. Former soccer player Wisła Kraków did not like a fragment of the text in the rapper’s song “Szubienicapestycznydybroń”, which was released at the beginning of 2020 and heralded the rapper’s break with the polite image that he had previously assumed during the promotion of the album “Romantic Psycho”.
Specifically, this part of the song:
Why do I have a suicidal mood like Mariusz Jop? (Mariusz Jop)
The rapper refers here to the unlucky situation in May 2010, when Mariusz Jop was a football player of the Wisła Kraków club, which was the leader in the league. During the match against Lech Poznań for the Polish Championship, the footballer scored an own goal, which deprived the team of a chance to win and additionally ensured that Cracovia, whose fans do not like Wisła fans, remained in the Ekstraklasa.
Mariusz Jop did not like Quebo’s song
In 2020, the former footballer in an interview with TVP Sport spoke unflatteringly about his reference to himself in the song Quebonafide:
It’s not right that Quebo used my story in this context. My public activity is limited to sports only, and I don’t like it when someone who doesn’t know me attributes difficulties to me that I never had. This piece links my name directly to suicide
Later in the conversation, he also added: “I also want to emphasize that you need to remember about people who, for various reasons, are in a difficult emotional situation. Their experiences should not be underestimated, putting an equal sign between an own goal and suicide.”
Mariusz Jop took the case to court and accused the artist of violating personal rights. There was little talk about the trial until now, when Quebonafide announced via Twitter that the lawsuit was dismissed. The judgment is not final.
