Olivia Binfield, like most seven-year-olds, loved animals. However, instead of a dog or a hamster, she chose a large snake as her pet. There was no shortage of everyday playmates even during the castings for the fifth edition of “Britain’s Got Talent”.
She decided to combine two passions
The girl confessed to the cameras that she plans to become a zoologist in the future. The talent she decided to present in the program, however, was related to her second passion – poetry. Combining these two worlds, she prepared a poem of her own authorship, through which she wanted to draw attention to the need to protect wild creatures whose natural habitat is thoughtlessly destroyed by people. This is the most serious problem she has raised so far – she previously wrote about her mother and the surrounding nature. She approached the task very seriously – not only did she learn the poem by heart, but also, to sound even more authentic, she appeared on stage accompanied by an unusual ward – her beloved snake, Lucy. She admitted that she would like to present her message to the queen herself.
“I can’t sing or dance”
Olivia didn’t reveal her plan at first and hid the snake in a wooden crate she left on the backstage. When she revealed what was inside, viewers were surprised.
With Lucy on her shoulders, the girl recited her own text, in which she pointed out that the audience was more interested in entertainment programs than in the protection of endangered species. At the end, she asked the viewers to respect her passion, even though “it may be considered unfashionable” and she herself cannot sing, dance or make them laugh. She received a standing ovation. Although the jurors were concerned to see the several-meter-long animal wrapped around the girl’s neck, they quickly appreciated both the performance itself and her unusual interests.
Something fabulous. It’s great that you have a specific passion at such a young age.
– they commented. Olivia and Lucy made it to the next stage of the show, but failed to reach the semi-finals. For the girl, however, the greatest success was reaching as many recipients as possible with the ecological message, which the program certainly enabled her to do.
