This is the first film in which the creator reveals in such a sincere conversation how the idea of establishing the Orchestra was born and how the difficult beginnings of its activity looked like. It also recalls the entire history of the 30 years of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, not omitting such difficult topics as the brutal hate that fell on it, or the death of the mayor of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, after which Jurek resigned for a moment.

The documentary film about the creator of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity shows his transformation – from a carefree hippie into the leader of a huge civic movement and at the same time a person identified with one of the most important symbols of free Poland. He also reveals the backstage of transferring the idea of Przystanek Woodstock to Poland, which became one of the largest music festivals in Europe.
– I decided to produce this film because, in my opinion, Poland still lacks documentaries about important figures whose attitude and life show great power to change our reality. This is what Jurek Owsiak is like. The energy that drives it has changed the face of Polish hospitals, saving tens of thousands of lives. I think it will be the premiere of the 30th anniversary

However, “The Phenomenon” is more than a story about the most famous social campaign in Poland. 30 years of the history of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a pretext for the authors of the film to show how great changes have taken place in society at that time. Reactions to Jurek Owsiak’s activities – from enthusiasm unprecedented in Polish history to questioning his work – are a mirror image of our behavior, a reflection of the polarization that has occurred among people in recent years.
Phenomenon will hit Polish cinemas on January 20, 2023. Its premiere coincides with the anniversary of the first Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity and the upcoming edition of the action.
