“The perfect mother does not exist,” declares Alba Flores, prior to the premiere on Netflix of ‘Sagrada Familia’, a new series by Manolo Caro

Family crises are once again the central axis in the new series by the Mexican director Manolo Caro. The creator of the house of flowers returns this Friday to the platform streaming Netflix with Sacred Family, that shows what a mother is capable of to protect her children.

Caro describes this story as “disturbing and twisted” where nothing is as it seems. “The idea arises from observing and seeing so many mothers who are around me, my sisters dedicated to the family, which is almost like a profession”said the Mexican in an interview for EFE.

The story is led by the Spanish Najwa Nimri and Carla Campraand it is that he says that women’s stories inspire him more. “His characters are richer, more complex and I like complexity”, express.

The move of a new family breaks the tranquility of Fuente del Berro, a residential neighborhood where Gloria (Nimri) lives with her baby and Aitana (Campra), her “au pair”, hiding from a mysterious and dark past.

“My character flees from the past, does not face reality and chooses an identity facing the world, but also facing herself, in reality everyone is living a lie, for a necessary good”explains the actress Najwa Nimri, who confesses that what was most difficult for her to interpret were the meetings of mothers in the park.

“It made me nervous to be with the girls talking about girly things in a cute medium tone and that seemed believable, it has been quite a challenge for me and I already knew the girls and they are fantastic”, he assures.

The plot revolves around those relationships that are established between four neighbors of different origins and who are mothers. “The series talks about courageous mothers”says the actress Macarena Gomez, “Those existed, exist and will always exist (…) that desire to protect your family and your child no matter what.”

Her character is Blanca, a woman looking for the perfect family and the perfect son.

Dawn Flowers (Caterina), known for her role as Nairobi in The Money Heistsays that the series highlights something that he considers “very important for mental health” and it is that “The perfect mother does not exist and neither does the absolutely toxic one.

“People are not absolute, everyone is capable of having a healthy love and an unhealthy love”, declares the actress, who also highlights that “love, sometimes it can become something perverse” and in his name “You can commit atrocious crimes or hurt the people you love the most.”
