In the last episode of the second season of “White Lotus”, viewers learned, among others, whose corpse was found on the beach in the first episode by Daphne (Meghan Fahy) and whether Cameron (Theo James) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza) had sex with each other and thus betrayed their spouses. The solution of this second puzzle, however, led to the birth of a new one. Ethan (Will Sharpe) confronts his wife (Plaza) but doesn’t believe her explanation at all.

Recall, throughout the season, the tension between the two married couples increased. In the penultimate episode, Ethan accuses Harper of cheating on him with his friend Cameron – they both went drunk together to the room. Harper [uwaga, spoiler] she later explains to him that yes, they went there with the intention of having sex, but ended up just kissing. Ethan is not convinced and, resentful, goes to talk to Daphne about all this. She listens intently, then takes him with her to a secluded corner on a nearby beach. Viewers do not see what is going on there, but it clearly has a salutary effect on Ethan, because when he returns, he begins to make love to his wife and you can see that the spark has returned to their relationship.
Viewers naturally wonder if Ethan had sex with Daphne on the island. This is also what journalists are asking the creators and the cast about. Showrunner Mike White, in an interview after the episode aired, said that something happened on the island that helped Ethan save his relationship with Harper.
“There was some little dalliance there, but whatever happened on the island enabled him to let go of the jealousy that was eating him up. It also restored that sexual charge that usually kicks in at the beginning of any relationship and can lessen a bit over time. Maybe it’s really Ethan and Harper needed a bit of what defines Cameron and Daphne’s relationship.”
Will Sharpe in an interview with “Entertainemt Weekly” ł: “I think the way Mike has handled these threads is interesting and somehow poetic, because there is still an element of mystery. What Daphne tells Ethan on the beach – that maybe you don’t need to know everything about each other to love and be together – it’s significant. From an actor’s point of view, I didn’t need to know what happened between Harper and Cameron because Ethan didn’t know.” heard from him:
