Dance, poetry and theater merge in a ‘Lorquean’ evening at the Guayas Nucleus House of Culture

One of the great figures of classical theater will revive tonight at the Guayas Nucleus House of Culture (CCNG). The group of Theater Rehearsal Gestus presents a show that blends theatre, dance, poetry and puppets in homage to the playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, of whom this month 124 years of his birth were remembered.

Abba will revive on the stages of the Teatro Sánchez Aguilar; the musical ‘Mamma Mia!’

These are two short pieces that will be presented in the space ‘Theater at home’, promoted by the CCNG. “We believe that it is important that we celebrate this poet from Granada who has been a bulwark in literature, in poetry, in storytelling, in painting, as well as in theater.ro. Celebrate that his magic, his ideas, his thoughts, his love of theater is still present today through his work. And that is always good to remember and make it practical”express Virgil Valero, director of the theater group and one of the actors who will take part in the evening.

The first work is called Counting on Federico, a performance who makes a journey through the life of García Lorca, under the interpretation of the actor Bernardo Menendez. the dancer Gloria Febres Cordero and the dancer Celia Estrada.

“In this work, poems dedicated to Federico for his death and verses from The unfaithful married. There is talk of facets of Federico that many people do not know ”, explains Menéndez, who indicates that the proposal was put together from scratch with the other two artists.

“The experience for the three of us has been enriching, we have contributed from both parties. Although Celia and I knew each other, we had never worked together before”, Add.

The second piece to be presented is The Tragicomedy of Cristóbal and Rosita, a short work that the Spanish wrote 100 years ago. Puppets and actors such as Valero, Mayté Mosquera and Milton Gálvez Leyton. “It is a naughty story of a love trio”Valero says.

“Rosita is practically sold by her father for a very large dowry to Cristobita, who is actually a tyrant. He is that character who wields a club, like the traditional wink, so he solves everything with a club. He marries Rosita even though she doesn’t love him, she is in love with a poet who has nowhere to drop dead, ”describes the actor.

This is how power and love face each other in a piece with a comedy tone, which also includes the intervention of puppets to address issues for the whole family.. “It is a very beautiful work, apparently very naive due to the texts it proposes, but nevertheless it has quite deep content; and above all poet and lyrical, because Lorca mixes very colloquial texts. It is a beautiful work that celebrates one hundred years of being written, and then it was worth going back and enjoying it”, Valero adds.

These two pieces will be presented tonight and tomorrow Saturday in the Demetrio Aguilera Malta room (4th floor of the Casa de la Cultura núcleo del Guayas, 9 de Octubre 1200 and Pedro Moncayo). From 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The value per work is $5. Tickets are on sale at the Casa de la Cultura box office. (YO)
