Junior Eurovision: France triumphs with Lissandro and his ‘Oh maman!’; Spain, in sixth position with Carlos Higes



France has won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 thanks to Lissandro with his song “Oh Maman!”, with which the neighboring country adds its second victory. Meanwhile, the Spanish Carlos Higes with his “Señorita” has reached sixth position with 137 points, thus achieving his eighth top 10 at the festival. The Spanish representative, the Valencian Carlos Higes, has obtained the sixth position with 137.

The jury has placed him sixth, with 59 points and the televoting has awarded him 78 points, the second position, although it has not been enough to surpass the five countries that had been ahead of him in the jury. “I would’ve been great. We have enjoyed it and I hope you really liked the performance”, said an excited and exultant Carlos as soon as he got off the stage, as explained by RTVE.

After the festival, Carlos has said that “it has been a dream” and that he has “enchanted” the entire festivalHe, his performance and has been happy for Lissandro, with whom he has shared a hotel and flight to come to Yerevan. Despite the sixth place, Spain has received points from the juries of all the participating countries: the Netherlands (3), Poland (1), Kazakhstan (2), malt (10)Italy (1), France (4), Albania (4), Georgia (1), Ireland (1), North Macedonia (5), United Kingdom (12)Portugal (2), Serbia (1), Armenia (8) and Ukraine (4).

The jury of Spainwhose spokesperson has been Juan Diego, one of the dancers, has given its 12 points to Armenia, 10 to Georgia and 8 to the Netherlands. France has been the winning country of the jury with 132 points, while it has been third in the televoting with 71, with which it has obtained victory with 203 points. “Oh Maman!”, performed by Lissandro, is composed by Barbara Pravi, the singer who reached second place for France in Eurovision 2021 performing “Voilà” and who already composed the song that won Junior Eurovision 2020. Pravi is the first woman to win two Eurovision Song Contests.

The second position has been obtained by Armenia, the hosts and the country that has come second most times in the festival. There have been 110 points from the jury (third position) and 70 from the televoting (fourth) that have earned him 180 points. Georgia, who had been second in the jury, suffered with the televoting and only added 47 points (13th position).

The fourth position has been obtained by Ireland, which achieves its best result in the children’s festival. Sophie Lennon and her “Solas” have obtained 150 points. In fifth position has been the United Kingdom, who returned to the festival after 16 years. The British have been the most voted by the public with 80 points, two more than Spain, which has been immediately below.

Netherlands and Portugal, seventh and eighth overall, have received 70 televoting points each, tying them for fourth place with Armenia. The Portuguese Nicolas Alves and his torn voice have obtained the first top 10 for that country in the history of the festival. Ukraine ninth and Poland tenth have concluded the top 10. The bottom part of the classification has been made up of Italy (95 points, tied with Poland), Albania (94 points), Serbia (92 points), North Macedonia (54 points), Kazakhstan (47 points) and the red lantern has obtained Malta, with 43 points. It is the third time that Malta has been last in the festival.

The twentieth Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Yerevan after Maléna’s triumph in 2021 with “Qami, Qami”, precisely in Paris. France joins the group of countries that have won two Junior Eurovision festivals, along with Armenia, Belarus, Malta and Russia. Now, the French television France Télévisions will be able to organize the 2023 edition.
