“Shrek” started it all with modern stories, modern jokes and a realistic look. It wasn’t timeless. It wasn’t a classic. The use of well-known voice actors was not common in animation before DreamWorks. But what I love about Shrek is that he spoke to outsiders. He has become a symbol of what can lead to success, that you don’t have to play by the rules. For me, it is a great representative of the brand.
