The beginnings of Ludwik Pak’s career. He was destined to succeed
He made his debut in the film Sleepwalkers by Bohdan Poręba. Initially, he performed mainly in numerous plays. On the big screen, he appeared several times in productions such as “Long Night” or “Klincz”. Recognition brought him an episode in the iconic scene from Bareja. A few sentences he uttered made him one of the most recognizable actors. The director appreciated the acting skills that Pak presented in the role of Zdzisław Dyrman. He offered him the role of Stanisław Anioł in “Alternatywy 4”, but in the end this role was played by Roman Wilhelmi. Pak had problems with alcohol, so he did not prioritize his professional duties.

However, Bareja did not cross out Pak and offered him another role in the series “Alternatywy 4”. The actor was supposed to play alongside, playing the role of Józef Balcerek. It is true that Pak appeared on two days of shooting, but then fell into a booze and disappeared without a trace. The shooting was unexpectedly interrupted by the introduction of martial law. When the creators returned to the set, Bareja resigned from cooperation with Pak, handing over the role.
The addiction put an end to his career. The actor’s private life
Ludwik Pak had problems with alcohol before he got to the set of “Misia”. he was in love with Jolanta Lothe, known for her role as Lola in the film Far from the Road. Even then, he often reached for alcohol, but he never got drunk to death. Unfortunately, their relationship did not last, which Pak experienced severely. He drowned his sorrows in alcohol. Finally, he went to a year of rehab at a hospital in Choroszcz. When he left the facility and found Bareja’s set, he started drinking again.
After losing his role in the series, he starred in several more productions. His outstanding role as an actress in “Siekierezada” brought him an award at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. Despite the success, the addiction turned out to be stronger. It was said that Pak “dissolved his talent in vodka”. At the end of his life, he stayed at the Veteran Actor’s Home in Skolimów. Ludwik Pak died on December 7, 1988 at the age of 58.
