From the Barbecue to El Chiringuito: Georgie Dann’s songs that everyone remembers and others that you didn’t know were hers

Georgie Dann’s voice is gone forever. The French artist, an icon of Spanish music for decades, has passed away at age 81 at the Puerta del Hierro Hospital in Madrid, where he had planned a hip operation.

The artist leaves generations orphans, but sowed indelible memories in all of them, with songs that put a soundtrack to the summers of their lives. And is that Georgie Dann became the king of summer of our country for several decades.

At 25, Georgie Dann he set foot in Spain for the first time. He already had five albums behind him, but no one like the Mediterranean public had managed to understand his tropical rhythms by heart.

In 1969, Dann wowed with the Casatshock, his first ‘hit’ in Spanish. By ’74 he had already settled in Madrid, and since then, every summer he was the protagonist of long trips to the beach.
