Georgie Dann, the author of the summer songs ‘The barbecue’ or ‘El chiringuito’, dies at 81

The popular singer Georgie Dann, interpreter of ‘The barbecue’ or ‘The chiringuito’, has died at the age of 81 at the Puerta del Hierro Hospital where he was waiting for a hip operation, as confirmed by laSexta.

Known in popular culture, his name was synonymous with the song of the summer. Between the 70s and 80s he popularized songs like ‘El Cataschok’ or ‘El buds’, ‘Carnival, carnival’ or ‘The African’. The French singer studied Teaching and began composing to entertain his students.

He was born on February 14, 1940 into a family of musicians and studied at the Conservatory of Paris, where he learned to play the clarinet, the sax and the accordion.

The singer came to Spain in 1965 to represent France at the Mediterranean Festival and he married a Spanish woman since 1974 and resided in Madrid. I had three children.
