Alec Baldwin sues part of the ‘Rust’ crew for the accidental death of his cinematographer

american actor Alec Baldwin has sued the gunsmith and several crew members involved in the film’s production for negligence’Rust‘, more than a year after the death of its cinematographer, Halyna Hutchinsdue to a shot from the weapon that the interpreter had in his hand that also caused injuries to the director Joel Souza.

In the lawsuit, picked up by CBS, Baldwin alleges that was not responsible for security of the gun and didn’t know it was loaded with real bullets.

The lawsuit, filed Friday, alleges that the gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed “did not carefully check the bullets or the gun”. He also claims that the assistant director, David Halls, “examined the gun carefully and yet announced the gun was safe before handing it over to Baldwin.”

Finally, the 67-year-old actor indicates that the prop Sarah Zachry “did not reveal that Gutierrez-Reed had been acting recklessly off set and was a risk to the safety of those around her.”

The actor claims that never pulled the trigger of the weapon, although FBI forensic evidence argued otherwise.

Authorities ended up describing what happened as an accident because “review of available police reports did not show any convincing demonstration that the firearm was intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set.”

Last month, Baldwin’s family and Hutchins reached an agreement and the actor announced that filming would resume.

Baldwin’s lawsuit adds that the 67-year-old actor “has been wrongly viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy.” “He has suffered physically and emotionally from the pain caused by these events,” according to the lawsuit. “Not a day goes by that he doesn’t think about and grieve about the events that happened that day.”
