Most of the people have the dream of their own car. However, the acquisition of a vehicle implies a high expense, so there are people who choose to buy a used car. If you are thinking of buying a car, there are two ways: Choose a new one or a used one.
This is when questions arise such as models, brands, type of car, how to pay for it, etc. However, it is necessary to evaluate the two options and consider certain factors before making the purchase of the vehicle.
According to Juan Fernando Íñiguez, academic director of the School of Automotive Engineering of the International University of Ecuador (UIDE), It is relative to define if it is more convenient to acquire a new or used car. He points out that the new car will be affected in the future with the resale price.
“When I take the car out of the dealership, I lose the resale value, the percentage of VAT and also, it depreciates 10% per year. Thus, the resale value is greatly affected with an approximate 22%”.
On the contrary, what stands out is that the buyer unconcerned about the state of the vehicle, since there is the certainty that the car is in excellent condition, in addition to having a guarantee. There is even a constant technological development carried out by brands.
Used car, less immediate cost
As for used vehicles, some factors that can help the buyer to lean towards this option are the price and the variety. In addition, the ability to negotiate the price and low loss of money at the time of resale.
According to Íñiguez, the price may be more affordable, but it is important check the condition of the car and an investment should be made regarding arrangements for the safety and comfort of the passengers.
“It is always advisable to check the condition of the vehicle, first the exterior condition, the bodywork, we must consider the high-impact blows that may have deformed the vehicle’s structures. These bumps can cause changes in the behavior of the car. A vehicle that has already collided may have lower security”, explains Íñiguez.
In the mechanical part, it should be checked suspension, brakes and motorizationit is important to confirm if the car has a maintenance history, either in the commercial house or in a private workshop.
What elements are most important if I am going to inspect a used car?
The mileage, if the car has more than 60 thousand kilometers, it was necessary to change the timing belt. Also, check the condition of fluids, engine oil, gearbox oil, hydraulic fluids, condition of brakes and suspension. (YO)
