The Ukrainian rapper, once a kindergarten teacher, has excellent technique and speed, and her sense of humor and stage charisma are unmatched. The opposite of Alyona Alyona is ROMA, a member of the prominent group The xx specializing in ascetic r’n’b ballads. The solo singles released so far show that she is attracted to New Order dance music.
Apart from them, on the stage of “Czycie Climat?” They will play: genre-jumping hardcore fans from The Armed, eclectic French artist Myd (LIVE BAND), post-punk Yard Act or hedonistic party girl Shygirl. DJ Seinfeld – melancholic and optimist praised by Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus, Bonobo or Disclosure – will present live material from the album “Mirrors”.
The entrance gate to the OFF Festival area is also a collection of containers which – filling up with plastic during the OFF period – show us how dizzying the pace of waste production is.
The gate, first built in 2019, has become the festival’s recycling point – not hidden at the back of the event, but present and visible. It gives food for thought – the OFF Festival is a great place to awaken the pro-ecological awareness in all of us.
A vegetarian and vegan diet dominates here – it accounts for 80 percent. gastronomic offer for participants. Instead of plastic straws, there are paper ones, reusable cups and biodegradable dishes are obligatory, as well as sorting rubbish – international environmental organizations such as REVERB encourage even such small steps. OFF strives to reduce the carbon footprint associated with transport. In front of the entrance to the event area, there is a large parking lot for city bikes. The festival was nominated for the title of the Most Ecological Festival in Europe.
OFF Festival is the most important Polish festival of broadly understood alternative music, combining folk, noise, punk, indie pop, jazz, metal and rap. This year it celebrates its fifteenth anniversary. The first four editions of the festival took place in Mysłowice – the hometown of the creator and originator of the event, Artur Rojek, then the vocalist of the Myslovitz band. Since 2010, the festival has been inviting participants to Katowice.
The biggest music stars who have “passed” the OFF Festival are, among others. PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, Slowdive, Caribou, The National, Charles Bradley, Swans and Converge. Virtually all major artists performed at the OFF Festival. Katowice was also a place of extraordinary experiments, when the Śląsk Song and Dance Ensemble appeared at the rock festival, and the unhappy Zbigniew Wodecki joined forces with the Mitch & Mitch formation. This year it will be a bit controversial: we will see the reactivation (especially for this performance) of the Papa Dance band, which – under this name – will play one of the most interesting Polish albums, which once collected … great reviews – “Below critics”, released in 1986 .
The last editions of the festival (in 2020 and 2021 the festival did not take place due to the pandemic) gathered 40-45 thousand participants. In 2014, Time magazine recognized the OFF Festival as one of the fourteen best music festivals in the world, and two years later the English Guardian placed Off on the list of the ten best festivals in Europe.

OFF The festival combines music with other fields of art: with literature, visual arts. The Literary Cafe, a meeting place with the most famous Polish writers, operates during the festival. The hosts and guests of the cafe were min. Olga Tokarczuk, Janusz Rudnicki, Andrzej Stasiuk, Krzysztof Varga, Natalia Fiedorczuk and others. For years, the café’s curator has been a writer and activist – Sylwia Chutnik.
