Netflix releases mobile games for its subscribers

Two of the games are based on “Stranger Things,” the hit Netflix horror series, and the other three are basic card or skill games.

Netflix on Tuesday launched mobile phone games that subscribers around the world of the streaming service can access for free.

Two of the games are based on “Stranger Things,” Netflix’s hit horror series, and the other three are basic card or skill games, according to the Silicon Valley-based company.

“We are excited to take our first step in launching Netflix games on mobile devices to the world,” the US company said in a statement. “We want to start building a library of games that offers something for everyone.”

The games available globally this Tuesday could already be used in Italy, Poland and Spain.

All titles are designed for Android smartphones or tablets and can be accessed through Netflix accounts.

The streaming platform did not reveal when versions will be available for iPhones or iPads, which run on Apple software.

Netflix recently acquired its first video game studio, in its bid to expand its entertainment empire into the lucrative gaming industry. (AND)
