The Musical Fortnight will kick off its 83rd edition with its usual Opening Day, which will be held on Tuesday 2, with four free dates that will bring music to different spaces in the center of San Sebastian.
The first two appointments of the day will begin at 12:00 in the Plenary Hall of the City Council and in the Foyer of the Kursaal. At the Town Hall, Trio Artio will perform piano trios by Beethoven and Brahms and ‘Soir – Matin’, composed by the French composer Mel Bonis.
At the same time, in the Foyer of the Kursaal, the violinist Liana Gourdjia and the pianist Josu Okiñena will offer works by the Basque masters Jesús Guridi, Gabriel Erkoreka and Pascual Aldave, as well as the transcription for violin and piano of the opera ‘Porgy and Bess ‘ by George Gershwin and Schubert’s ‘Fantasia’ in C major.
The first concert of the afternoon will come from the Kea Ahots Taldea choir, at 6:00 p.m. in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall.
At 8:30 p.m., under the direction of Aitor Biain, Oñatiko Ganbara Abesbatza will offer ‘Inspiratio’ at the San Vicente Church, a diverse program that brings together works from the 16th and 20th centuries, and Basque and international composers.

In addition to these free concerts on the Opening Day, the cycle of concerts at the Kursaal Auditorium will also begin, with John Eliot Gardiner, Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, and the Organ Cycle will also begin, with the concert that The Norwegian organist Jon Laukvik will offer in Tolosa.
